Whilst growing up in suburban Brisbane Kathy dreamt of travelling the world and leading an exciting life. She finally found it working in the 'glamorously glossy daaahhlings' magazine industry in London, where she lived for seven years and worked as an entertainment and health writer, book and movie reviewer and features editor.
Her first big interview was while working on the men's style magazine Esquire
with Sting. During her stint on the UK women's magazine Company she
travelled on location to The Northern Territory and Greece - where she did some
truly 'hard-core investigative journalism' and discovered the ins and outs of
outrageous Brits on a 18 to 30 holiday. Kathy B also went undercover at the
glamorous London Fashion Week and as a posh, but faux 'IT' girl, at a
She's mustered cattle at sunrise with a jillaroo in the outback for a Fleet Street newspaper, travelled around the world and hung out on Bondi beach with some spunky soapie stars - all in the name of work!
Kathy B has appeared on popular TV – she was the regular book reviewer on Network 7’s The Morning Show, has also appeared on Sunrise, Mornings With Kerrie Anne, 9am With David and Kim, Today Tonight, Current Affair, Sky News Australia, Brisbane Extra, Briz31 and Girl TV. She also had her own radio segments, a dating show on Liberty Radio in the UK and as ‘Ms Manners’ for Queensland’s ABC radio and has appeared as a guest on dozens of radio shows.
Kathy B has interviewed celebrities as varied as The Dark Knight, Batman's Christian Bale, Confessions of a Shopaholic's Isla Fisher, The Crocodile Hunter’s Steve, Terri and Bindi Irwin, The Bank Job’s Jason Statham, Rose Bryne, Megan Gale, Sarah O'Hare, Carrie Fisher, Ben Kingsley, Elisha Cuthbert, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jackie Collins, Jeffrey Archer and Ioan Gruffudd.
She has also written for various magazines in Australia and the UK, including Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, Elle, Women’s Health, Esquire, New Woman, Cosmopolitan, Cosmogirl, girlfriend, Total Girl, Empire, Filmink, Readers Digest, Zest, Good Housekeeping, Oyster, HealthSmart and newspapers such as, The Sunday Telegraph, The Sun Herald and The Mirror (UK).
Taking some time out from her part-time job as an intrepid gonzo journalist - from flying upside down at 1066m on an aerial acrobatic flight (when she’s terrified of heights!), trying the extreme sport street luge (when she’s never even been on a skate-board) or flying up, up and away in a hot air balloon, or indulging in her much less stressful favourite hobbies, watching movies, reading books, playing sport and making organic blueberry muffins – she has released three non-fiction books through Penguin. The ultimate movie and book guide for women called Happy Endings, a very funny and modern guide to manners in the new millennium, Charm School: The Modern Girl's Complete Handbook of Etiquette, which was also released in a foreign language edition in Latvia, and a quit smoking support guide-book for women called Quit for Chicks, which was also released in a foreign language edition in Indonesia.
She contributed an personal essay to the book Some Girls Do … My Life as a Teenager (Allen&Unwin), supporting the charity SISTER2sister, a mentoring program for disadvantaged teenage girls and wrote a short story published in New Woman magazine, raising money for the charity Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia and has also taught writing at Bond University.
